Apple iPhone 15 Ultra Might Debut with a Titanium Chassis Next Year; Early Reports

Following the September 2022 keynote, Apple Inc has started R&D-ing the iPhone 14's successive series. We are only a month past the latest iPhone lineup's launch; speculations and leaks have started picking up the pace. A recent leak reported the Inc's alleged plan to change the naming convention next year.

According to rumors, iPhone 15's bigger Pro variant will acquire better hardware (camera, battery, screen, and storage) than its lower-priced counterparts, thereby assuming the name iPhone 15 Ultra. Where traditionally, the Pro and Pro Max variants lay on the same performance spectrum, the 2023's Ultra will take off as the series' Ultimate phone.

Performance segregation apart, the latest gossip suggests that the build quality of the iPhone Ultra might also bump up. The rumor mill expects the Ultra to leverage titanium armor, adding extra durability, lighter heft, and scratch resistance to the handset. If all that's said is true, the Ultra's price might spike due to titanium's high cost.

While the rumor about the upcoming additions to Apple's rate list may seem plausible, fans should take it with a grain of salt, as some "leaks" associated Pro Max iPhone 14 with a titanium build before. As we witnessed, that wasn't the case. It's a bit early for these reports to hold any heft. The accurate interpretation of the company's plan lies further down the road.

Sources around the web also claim a 3nm chip under 15 Ultra's hood; it seems plausible since Apple takes that leap every year. Moreover, the enforcement of European regulations might infect the historic and iconic charging port on iPhones. The possibility of Apple switching its lightning dock with USB Type-C seems very real.
