While the dust is settling after the big wrap-up of Apple’s iPhone 16 series debut a month ago, this seems the proper time to talk about their next items or what the rumor mill calls the iPhone 17 and 17 Air. The second one is a bit controversial. These are the things you ought to know about them.
There’s a new leak roaming the interwebs, and publishers are taking special note of it because it came from Apple analyst Jeff Pu, who has somehow found details about the specs of the iPhone 17 and 17 Air. If we had to be more specific, he talked about cameras, RAM, and even display stats in this break.
There is a big camera jump on 17 Pro and Pro Max if we take Pu’s words at face value and he said there’s a 48 MP telephoto here and a 24 MP selfie camera. That’s a big uptick since the best iPhone 16 can do is 12 MP selfie and 12 MP telephoto.
Those Apple's upcoming iPhones don’t have more than 8 GB RAM in any config, but if Jeff Pu’s claim turns out to be legit, their 17 Pro series will boost it up to 12 GB. This will also be a great help for its built-in AI. Still, the rumored and vexed 17 Air may not have 12 GB if it did show up.
And what of their displays? Pu believes it’s 6.3” for the iPhone 17 Pro and 6.9” for Pro Max, the same deal we saw on the iPhone 16 series. That 17 Air will lay in between, 6.6” in size and probably an Apple A19 chip, and we’ll see its focus mainly on reducing bulk.
