Apple iPhone 17 Pro to Introduce the Company's Most Advanced Display Tech Yet

Tips are coming in from all sides, claiming what new technologies Apple might pioneer this time with the iPhone 17 Pro. A leaker says that a new display tech is in the works at Apple R&D and it could be better than the existing LTPO panel we’re used to seeing by now.

An X leaker @Jukanlosreve posted that the iPhone 17 Pro series will use a new type of screen called “Low-Dielectric TEE.” The same source pointed out earlier that it could be something they will use with the iPhone 18 series, but he has revised it with the claim that the iPhone 17 Pro series will be adopting it first.

Of course, if they switch the LTPO in Apple's upcoming iPhones, this technology will eventually get inherited by the iPhone 18 too. This leaker also added an explanation for this new tech in his post. Possibly, the Low-Dielectric TEE could have benefits like battery efficiency and durability.

LTPO tech works by quickly ramping up or switching down the screen clocks from 1-120 Hz. Still, the quality and type of LTPO decide how responsive or efficient it is. If it’s a low-quality LTPO, you might observe occasional lag or choppiness in the UI.

This new tech can respond faster to inputs and use less power while doing so — an LTPO+ version if you will. We have heard several rumors that display makers Samsung and LG have been working on LTPO+ for a while, but it’s BOE (Apple’s new display partner) who has allegedly made it happen with Low-Dielectric TEE.
