Apple’s next iPhone lineup is stirring the pot, as many believe it will be the most exciting catalog from the company in recent years. We hear it will bring some design changes, add a new member, and make worthwhile upgrades to the spec sheets. A recent leak on the internet spilled details about the new iPhone 17 Air and 17 Pro Max, which you might find interesting.
From what we’ve gathered, the Apple iPhone 17 Air will be an ultra-thin device with almost the same dimensions as the Pro Max option. The leaked iPhone 17 Pro Max is the opposite, with the report saying it could get thicker with the installation of a bigger battery.
The leak source Ice Universe seems confident in his Weibo post that the Air model roughly measures 5.5mm thickness and sets a record for the slimmest iPhone design yet. Apple is also taking interest in the sudden rise of ultra-thin flagship devices after Samsung demoed its own Galaxy S25 Edge at the Unpacked Event in January.
IceUniverse says that the iPhone 17 Air and Pro Max share the same display size, length, height, and black edge, but they are quite different in terms of thickness. iPhone 17 Pro Max will increase the depth to 8.725mm to make room for more battery in the chassis. As for Apple iPhone prices, this increase in size could impact the overall cost of the device.
This is a curious leak since earlier reports mentioned the iPhone 17 Air size at 6.55”, which is nowhere close to the iPhone 17 Pro Max’s speculated 6.9” screen. Theorists already warn us that the Slim device might not have enough room for a standard battery and mmWave 5G antennas.
If we’ve learned anything about Apple in recent years, it’s that it never launches a half-baked consumer product, so you can be sure that iPhone 17 Air will be a well-rounded device by the time it debuts. Over the past few months, another theory has had us curious about the iPhone 17 series design change this year.
There’s possibly a revised camera design on its way to the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, which could push the phone’s LIDAR and Flash to the right side and the camera stack to the top left corner, engulfing the entire upper half of the rear shield. Apple even has some environmental goals in mind, so instead of Titanium, the company might build iPhone 17 middle frames from Aluminum. We’ll keep you in the loop as the story develops further, so stick around for more updates.
