Apple iPhone 17 Series Reportedly Getting a Major Selfie Camera Upgrade

Apple iPhone 17 series will be making some big changes. The lineup’s probably due in 2025, but the frequency of early bird rumors and reports has left little to the imagination. There’s a new rumor going around, and it speaks of a big camera change for all iPhone 17 models.

These were the details shared by Jeff Pu, the Apple Analyst. In a chart from a research note on Haitong Investment Bank, Pu identified hints of a 24MP selfie shooter for the iPhone 17 lineup. Not only that but there’s also a mention of a 6P lens with this sensor type.

It’s a relatively newer technology and uses six individual pieces for better control over chromatic aberration and image quality. 6P lens and a 24 MP sensor will level up the aged 12 MP camera unit of the current iPhones. Apple may rid the iPhones of five plastic lens elements up front.

Claims by Jeff Pu become more and more plausible. A few months back, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo advised something similar for Apple's future iPhones. He also reported a 24 MP selfie unit on all four iPhone 17s in 2025. MacRumors also cited Jeff Pu’s report, and it’s now going viral all over the Internet.

Suffice it to say that much can change in 12 months. By the time Apple launches the iPhone 17 roundup, more sources will have confirmed if these claims are legit. As always, we advise taking these reports with a hint of sarcasm until confirmed by official sources.
