According to reliable tipster @URedditor, also known as Unknownz21, the forthcoming iteration of Apple's budget-friendly iPhone SE series will draw inspiration from the iPhone 14. The claim aligns with predictions made earlier this year by esteemed Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
Kuo had previously indicated that the Apple iPhone SE 4 would feature a 6.1-inch screen while incorporating Apple's proprietary 5G modem chip. Unknownz21 built on that and further revealed that the iPhone SE 4 will forgo Touch ID in favor of Face ID.
It may prompt questions about the possibility of integrating the TrueDepth Camera into a more affordable device. However, the cost of producing the TrueDepth Camera has considerably decreased since its inception with the iPhone X in 2017.
Notably, the tipster mentions the new iPhone SE model will embrace a USB-C port for both charging and data transfers while maintaining a single rear camera setup, in line with previous iPhone SE models.
Distinguishing itself from the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, the iPhone SE 4 will likely feature the Action Button, a pressure-sensitive key rumored to replace the ring/silent switch on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. The key is customizable to execute various tasks, such as triggering the camera shutter or initiating the stopwatch.
The production of the iPhone SE 4’s 6.1-inch OLED panels will reportedly wind up under China BOE’s control. Surprisingly enough, Apple purportedly shifted orders away from BOE for the iPhone 15 lineup due to concerns related to the Dynamic Island cutout, favoring Samsung for the task. Since the iPhone SE 4 launch is speculated to occur in 2025, these plans remain subject to change.
