Vivo just unveiled the Vivo Y21s in Indonesia, a new edition of the entry-level Vivo Y21 and a successor to the Vivo Y20s. It was announced quietly with social media promos, not a dedicated launch event. And the phone is headed to more Asian markets soon, presumably including Pakistan.
Like a typical budget phone from Vivo, the Vivo Y21s is built on a recycled blueprint to pad the year-round release calendar. The features aren’t heavy on value either. We’re looking at a 6.51” notched screen with a 720P resolution and a standard 60Hz refresh rate. The chin is thick, resulting in an 89% screen-to-body ratio.
Vivo Y21s has a plastic shell, offered in Pearl White and emerald Midnight Blue finishes. The volume rocker and a side-facing thumbprint reader (which doubles as the power button) are mounted on the frame. The chassis is 8mm thick, and the whole build weighs 182g.
A trio of lenses and an LED flash are arranged on the raised camera platform. It’s an array of 50MP f/1.8 wide, 2MP macro, and 2MP portrait lenses. Out on the front, an 8MP camera is housed inside the notch. Vivo Y21s can shoot in the super night and eye AF modes.
It’s all powered by the MediaTek Helio G80 and a 5000 mAh battery. Vivo Y21s supports 18W quick-charging and slow reverse charging over the wire. Plus, you get 4GB of memory that has been extended virtually by one gig for better multitasking.
The 128GB of internal storage is expandable via a microSD card. Other than the slot for expansion, Vivo Y21s also includes a 3.5mm audio jack and a USB-C interface. The Android11 OS with FunTouchOS UI runs on this hardware. The new Vivo's retail price in Indonesia starts from IDR 2,799,000 which converts to Rs. 32,800 PKR, without adding taxes.
