Honor 8A 2020 Goes for Pre-order in the U.K., Simply a Rebranded Honor 8A Pro

Honor introduced the Honor 8A Pro in its domestic market last year, and it’s now rehashing the phone as a 2020 edition outside China at affordable Huawei prices. The 8A 2020 is already available for pre-order across the U.K. Since the Honor 8A 2020 is a rebranded Honor 8 Pro, the build and specifications are virtually identical.

The phone is retailing through an online vendor based in the U.K., bearing a Huawei price tag of £130 (~27,000 PKR). The pre-order window lasts until April 15, following which the retailer, Clove, would begin shipping the device.

Honor has yet to share the release schedule for other markets.

The Honor 8A 2020 is a rebranded entry-level model from 2019, so it’s no surprise that it feels out of place in 2020 (ergo more expensive). You get a notched design, a massive chin, and a single rear camera. The screen stretches 6.09 inches across, featuring an 8MP lens inside a drop notch and Honor’s branding on the chin.

The rear shell is polycarbonate, sporting a solid matte-like finish in Black and Blue shades. A capacitive fingerprint scanner sits in the middle, and a solitary 13MP camera and LED flash rests in the top-left corner.

Just as with the design and camera, the internals remain underwhelming. The Honor 8A 2020 is powered by a MediaTek Helio P35 chip, combined with 3GB of RAM and 64GB storage (that can be expanded with a dedicated microSD card slot). The chipset has a dated 12nm process baked into it, and an octa-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz.

The hardware runs on a 3,020 mAh battery with no fast charging support and a previous-gen Android-Pie-based EMUI 9. Do you think the Honor 8A 2020 merits its ‘2020’ moniker? Let us know in the comments!
