After its split from Huawei and the months-long hiatus that followed, Honor is picking up the pace with its new releases. The brand just announced yet another basic entry-level model in China, the Honor Play 20. It’s a 4G phone, featuring barebones specs and a pocket-friendly price to match. Let’s take a look.

We start with the Honor Play 20 design — a generic plastic shell with a sunburst finish, available in black, white, blue, and pink. A notch bleeds into the screen, flanked by a prominent chin.

The dual camera cluster on the back takes a matrix shape inside the squarish housing. No fingerprint scanner is included in the Honor Play 20 build, but it features a 3.5mm audio jack, a slot for up to 512GB of storage expansion, and a USB-C port.

The Play 20 has a 6.51” IPS LCD with a 720P resolution and an 89.3% screen-to-body ratio (no modern bells and whistles to be found here.) A modest 5MP front camera is tucked inside the notch at an affordable Honor mobile Price. The dual rear cameras feature a 13MP primary lens and a 2MP portrait sensor.

Underneath the Honor Play 20 hood, you will find similarly underwhelming specs. For starters, the chipset is the 12nm Tiger T610 from the lesser-known semiconductor company Unisoc. It’s an eight-core CPU, clocked at 1.8GHz. It works with 4GB/6GB/8GB of memory and 128GB of storage.

A 5000 mAh battery (capped at 10W charging) and the old-gen Android10-based MagicUI power the Honor Play 20. Its base variant starts from 899 Yuan (~ Rs. 21,000.)
