No earthquake or thunderstorm, yet the gadget enthusiast are still shocked by the news of New Honor Play series being launched today, at an event held in China. News were already making rounds on the web that Honor is going to skip the Play 2 branding and will release it with the number 3 instead but nobody was expecting it that soon.
Huawei has officially confirmed that the company has indeed decided to abandon the name Honor Play 2. At a launch event today, dedicated earlier to the Honor 20S announcement, the Honor Play 3 smartphone will also get unveiled along with Honor Play 3i.
Earlier, Zhao Ming from Honor did confirm another new product to be presented alongside the Honor 20S at the event but Honor Play 3 took everyone by surprise. To recall, the Honor Play from last year was the very first Honor flagship gaming smartphone to use the GPU Turbo game acceleration technology. It is easy to guess that the Honor Play 3 will also be positioned as a gaming smartphone, expected to compete with the Redmi Note 8 Pro.
HONOR is still puzzling over the key specifications of the device. However, quoting the rumors circulating that HONOR Play 3 will bring a 6.39-inch screen with HD + resolution (720 pixels) - possibly using a hollow-type LCD screen. Rumors also add that it may be powered by a Kirin 710 chip and 6GB of RAM.
For the camera, it is expected to feature a triple rear camera setup with a combination of 48MP + 8MP + 2MP lenses and a 4,000 mAh battery with 10W fast charging. The specification information is still based on rumors and the legitimacy is still unknown. Let's wait for the official appearance of the honor today and we'll update you with the official features soon.
