After a brief hiatus, Honor is gearing up to introduce another Honor Play series to provide top-notch gaming specs to its users at an affordable Huawei price. Honor’s official sources announced on Weibo, in the form of a teaser poster, that the Honor Play 4 will debut globally on June 3.
The promotional campaign hasn’t revealed any key Honor Play design details yet, but the poster published today points to 5G connectivity across the board for this new lineup.
The decorative elements in the promo suggest that the series will be gaming and performance-oriented. And speculation has it that the Play 4 family features two editions: Honor Play 4 5G and Honor Play 4 Pro 5G.
The base edition has been signed off by TENNA ahead of its official launch, under the model number TNNH-AN00. It has a giant 6.81” display that is punched in the corner and produces an FHD+ resolution. Mounted on the rear-shell of the Honor Play 4 5G is a 64MP-powered quad-camera. The camera setup is arranged in a rectangle bump in a vertical layout. The build has a thumbprint reader installed on the power button as well.
The chipset isn’t named, but it has an octa-core CPU, rounded off by 8 GB of RAM. In any case, the storage, though unconfirmed, could go up to 256 GB – expandable with an NM card. A 4,200 mAh battery powers this hardware.
While Honor has yet to make a formal announcement, the Honor Play 4 Pro 5G is already available for pre-registration in China. It has an elaborate, futuristic geometric pattern painted on the rear shell that comes in Midnight Black and Mecha Blue shades. It presents a 3D effect, accented with a glossy highlight. A rectangular camera housing juts out of this shell containing a dual 40MP + 8MP camera setup.
A pill-shaped cutout in the display houses the Play 4 Pro’s dual selfie camera that combines a 16MP primary camera with a 2MP depth-assist lens. A Kirin 820 5G processor handles the number-crunching while drawing power from a 4,500 mAh cell that supports 40W fast charging. As far as the Huawei prices are concerned, WhatMobile expects the ‘Pro’ edition to start from CNY 3,000 or approximately 67,000 Pakistani rupees.
