More and more upcoming Honor models have been popping up in leaks as of late, and the latest in the line of these leaks is Honor Play 9A. The phone, along with its two editions, has been listed on the TENNA database. The duo will be succeeding last year’s Honor Play 8A at some amazing Huawei prices, and this listing sheds some light on the specifications for it.
As per the phone leaker Ishan Agarwal, the Honor Play 9A features a drop notch that stretches into its 6.3-inch display. The screen is an IPS LCD panel that produces an HD+ resolution and embeds an 8MP selfie camera inside its circular notch. The build has thin bezels and a slightly thicker chin.
Around the back, you get a twin-camera housed inside a (needlessly) massive rectangular housing, with an LED flash sandwiched between the two lenses: a 13MP main camera and a 2MP depth sensor. The rear shell sports a polished, iridescent look in teal, blue, and black gradients, as well as a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. Finally, the build has the dimensions of 159.07×74.06×9.04mm and weighs 185g.
That covers the design part, now for the performance. The Honor Play 9A is tipped to run on a MediaTek Helio P35 platform and a 5,000 mAh battery with support for 10W fast charging. Honor has paired the chipset with up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB storage options. Whether or not this storage is expandable is yet to be revealed. The two variants are possibly dubbed MED-AL20 and MOA-AL20.
The phone will ship with a bare-bones Android 10 with Honor’s proprietary Magic UI 3.0 baked into it. Users will have to make do with HMS since the phone lacks support for Google Mobile Services.
Details like the launch schedule and the expected Huawei price are still a mystery, but seeing as the phone has been signed off by TENNA, its official release shouldn’t be far off.
