Huawei P Smart 2020 Leaks: Old Smartphone, New Design - Will Launch with Google Mobile Services

As per the popular German publication WinFuture.de, Huawei is repurposing the Huawei P Smart once again. And because it’s a redesign, Huawei can ship the 2020 iteration with Google Mobile Services. The report also lists the key specifications for the alleged P Smart 2020 without mentioning the Huawei prices.

The P Smart 2020 design seen in the renders shows a somewhat cookie-cutter build. You’re looking at a water-drop notch that extends into the phone’s 6.21” screen – an FHD+ IPS panel with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio that fills it.

Go around the back of the Huawei P Smart 2020 to find a twin-camera set up inside a familiar rectangular bump, flanked by a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. The panel itself has an almost-glossy finish that comes in Aurora Blue, Black, and Green gradients.

The main camera has a 13MP sensor behind it, combined with a 2MP depth lens that allows for hardware-level bokeh. Resting inside the notch is a standard 8MP front-facing shooter. The 13MP lens has an f/2.0 aperture – no surprises there, given that we’re talking about a budget phone.

A previous-gen Kirin 710F SoC handles the processing with its octa-core CPU clocked at 2.2 GHz. There’s no support for fast charging, but its 3,400 mAh (inherited from the Huawei P Smart 2019) does charge over a USB Type-C port this time.

Huawei has bumped the storage up to 128GB from the 64GB capacity that its predecessor had. The onboard ROM can be expanded with a dedicated microSD card slot. The RAM has also been upgraded from 3GB to 4GB, which should afford the 2020 edition better, smoother performance.

The same can’t be said for the software, however. The internals still run on an Android-Pie-based EMUI 9.1. That being said, unlike the Honor and Huawei phones we’ve seen so far this year, the Huawei P Smart 2020 comes pre-loaded with Google Apps.

The publication expects the phone to start at a Huawei price tag of €200 which converts to some 35,000 PKR without taxes and the handset is expected to debut in May. Note that Huawei has yet to announce the device officially.
