After making several appearances in leaked product concepts, the upcoming Huawei P50 was featured in hands-on photos. Courtesy of the phone leaker Digital Chat Station, the dummy models give us a peek at what could be the finalized design for the P50. Here’s what Huawei’s next flagship has to offer.
First off, if you have been following the Huawei P50 series including Huawei P50 Pro, the ‘stove top’ camera island seen in these photos should be familiar. This oval-shaped housing has two rings containing four lenses. Rumor has it that the Huawei P50 series will feature the world’s first 1” IMX800 sensor, made by Sony.
Other than a wide lens, the array also includes a 5x periscope-style camera and a standard telephoto camera. It’s all rounded off with a 3D ToF sensor to process depth information. Once again, Huawei will partner up with the imaging brand Leica to co-engineer the camera experience.
The hole punch is sticking around for at least another generation. But the new P50 has lopped off the extra front lens and moved it to the center. Also, note that the display is flat this year, surrounded by an even, slim bezel. The Huawei P50 build is compact, featuring a 6.3” screen at a flagship Huawei mobile price.
The P50 series is expected around late May or early June. It’ll be available in white, black, blue, and bronze shades. The newly-introduced (but underwhelming) HarmonyOS runs on the series across the board.
