Huawei is offering an attractive discount on the recently launched Huawei Y8p. It was announced earlier in summer this year, featuring a gorgeous design and an OLED screen. We’ll recount the feature set in the paragraphs that follow.
Huawei Y6p's elder sibling, the Y8p was previously retailing for Rs. 37,999 but after a price cut of Rs. 3,700, the phone is now available on sale for Rs. 34,299. You’re looking at a 6.3” compact OLED display with a drop notch stretching into it. It produces an FHD+ resolution and a 90.17% screen-to-body ratio, translating into a lot of high-res screen real estate.
A fingerprint scanner underneath the display handles the biometrics. The back panel of the Y8p has a dynamic ‘Aurora’ design that comes in Breathing Crystal and Midnight Black. It’s minimalistic and clean except for a stack of three cameras that lies in the top-left corner.
The triple camera on Huawei Y8p features a 48MP main sensor, an 8MP wide-angle camera, and a 2MP sensor for depth mapping — a respectable setup at an affordable Huawei mobile price. Its camera app has a dedicated ‘Super Night Mode’ and ‘SuperSpectrum Sensing’, designed to produce clearer, more detailed shots. The wide-angle camera has a range of 120° and your selfies are taken with a 16MP that lacks any flair or features of note.
The Huawei Y8p has a standard lower-mid-range configuration under its hood: 6GB of memory, 128GB of storage, the last-gen Kirin 710F processor, and a 4,000 mAh battery without any fast charging support. The storage is user-expandable but only via the manufacturer’s proprietary NM SD cards.
Huawei’s EMUI 10.1 greets you when you boot the phone, packed with ‘Game Turbo’ optimization for enhanced performance when you’re gaming. A caveat though, Huawei’s Android10 doesn’t support Google’s apps or services so you’ll have to rely on their limited AppGallery.
