Huawei Y8p Price Slashed in Pakistan by Rs 2,000; A Better Huawei Y7a?

Yesterday, Huawei launched the new Huawei Y7a in Pakistan, priced at Rs. 35,999. Following this release, the Huawei Y8p gets a price cut — making it an attractive buy over the Y7a. It features the same processor, a better display and camera, and a gorgeous lightweight design.

The Huawei Y8p has been retailing for Rs. 34,300 but after the new Rs. 2,000 discount, it’s now available for Rs. 32,200. It's the second price reduction since its launch in July as the first price cut was offered earlier in the 1st weak of October, almost a month ago.

Huawei Y8p offers a better value-to-price ratio. Y7a’s display is LCD, and its thumbprint reader is merged with the button. It’s incredibly bulky — at 9.3mm and 206g, where the Y8p measures only 7.75mm and weighs 163g (lighter than the Oppo F17 Pro). The ergonomic 6.3” FHD+ screen is OLED, offering better contrast, viewing angles, and battery life, with an in-display fingerprint scanner. Even the 16MP front camera is twice as high-res.

Mostly a neglected star in the Huawei price list, the y8 has a shimmery plastic back along with a multi-hued aesthetic and a compact camera housing. The finish, available in Breathing Crystal and Midnight Black, doesn't feel plasticky. The rear Huawei Y8p camera array uses a 48MP f1.8 standard camera, a 120° 8MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, and a 2MP portrait lens, augmented with AI-powered night mode and a super-sensing mode that outputs more detailed images.

Performance should be more or less the same, save for the battery life. Huawei Y8p’s battery capacity is only 4000 mAh without any fast charging support. The Y7a, on the other hand, has a standard 5000 mAh cell, powered by 22.5W. The chipset is the two-year-old Kirin 710F (essentially just another recycled "variant" of the Kirin 710, the same as the Y7a).

You get 6GB of memory (two gigs higher than its successor) and 128GB of expandable storage — although it only supports Huawei’s proprietary NM SD Card. Plus, it has NFC support. Google Mobile Services remain missing, however.
