Infinix Note 50 Series to Feature DeepSeek R1 for AI Voice Assistance

Infinix has the Note 50 series lined up for debut, and it even confirmed the launch date in a recent teaser. Sadly, the company didn’t get into the specifics and only highlighted Infinix AI to be the central feature of this year’s Infinix Note 50 devices. This is what we know so far.

The new Infinix lineup will break cover on March 3 (the date is confirmed officially on social media). In the teaser, we saw ‘Infinix AI’ front and center alongside a boldly-designed Note 50 handset. The inscription leaves no clues about features, the AI model, or how it functions. But yesterday’s leak changes everything.

We learned from a very reliable source that Infinix AI doesn’t come with your typical GPT models for voice assistance. The company’s default Folax voice assist would rather use DeepSeek R1 integration, an AI model that recently crushed Google Play and Apple Store’s most downloaded records.

DeepSeek's R1 model is their state-of-the-art LLM that just surfaced a few months ago. It competes directly with the GPT-4o model from Open AI, hence its popularity. Infinix might be China’s first major smartphone company to use DeepSeek R1 for voice assistant integration.

The Folax we usually find on Infinix's XOS UI as a Voice Assistant serves little to no use for customers. But, if executed correctly, the DeepSeek will help Folax reach the capabilities of Gemini Assistant and even Bixby. The source behind this even claims that Folax-DeepSeek R1 was internally tested and showed great promise. With new 4G Infinix mobile launches on the horizon, this AI upgrade could enhance user experience across upcoming devices.

Traditional Folax and the one baked with DeepSeek AI are entirely different. Infinix AI’s Folax handled searches and voice commands quickly and even understood requests faster than the older Folax versions. Since it is backed by R1, the new Folax is much more capable than a simple voice assistant.

Just as convenient as before, we’ll be able to summon the assistant with voice or the power key. It was also mentioned by the leak source that Infinix AI’s official debut is on February 26, when the company might announce its DeepSeek R1 integration to Infinix Note 50 Pro and its siblings. The date is near, so expect another report about Infinix AI features in a few days.
