Infinix is taking innovation to the next level with its upcoming flagship device, the Infinix Note 50s 5G Plus. The company teased this newcomer earlier today with a feature no one has ever seen on a smartphone before. Infinix calls it “Energizing scent-tech,” and it’s exactly what the name suggests.

The company will be unveiling this device on April 18 next week bearing all the common features of the Note 50 series and a special focus on how the device smells. From what we’ve gathered, the Note 50s 5G+ has scent-tech built into its rear panel that releases fragrance, making not only the device smell good in hand but also spread the aroma in the surrounding air.

This is a unique piece of technology, never tested before on a consumer product. Only time will tell if it’s a gimmick or if it’s worth investing in future smartphones as well. Still, the premise is intriguing, and it could at least serve as a great conversation starter.

We hear Infinix used microencapsulation technology with the new 5G Infinix mobile’s rear panel, which helps trap the fragrant molecules within the microscopic pores on the device’s back. The faux leather design made for the newcomer has hidden micro capsules entrapping the scented particle that gradually release over a period of time.

The scent released by the device should be subtle and won’t last more than six months, depending on some external factors. Infinix says that the fragrance emitted by the device will be a mix of marine and lemon upper notes, lily of the valley middle notes, and some base notes of amber and vetiver.

The intensity or duration of the scent will change with ambient conditions, temperature, or humidity, which means the scent will eventually run out. The scented variant won’t be available across all color options. The only Note 50s 5G+ option with the energizing scent tech is its Marine Drift Blue finish, which we imagine will be a go-to choice for most buyers and should be widely available.

The other colors will be Titanium Grey and Ruby Red. The company didn’t reveal the phone’s specifications, but it’s only a matter of time before the details come out. Stay tuned to find out more about the Note 50s+ 5G when the phone launches on April 18th.
