Infinix Smart 9 Quietly Released with 120Hz Display and Helio G81 Chipset

We didn’t hear a peep about their ‘Smart’ series for a while, but it turns out, they were cooking up something special for us. Infinix Smart 9 has made it out of the pipeline and it’s pretty cheap for the kind of specs they packed here, like a 120Hz refresh rate, and even a Helio G81 chip.

This debut was low-key, and Smart 9 suddenly turned up on Infinix’s site in Bangladesh and Malaysia without any elaborate launch or teasers in its wake. But now that it’s out, we can’t help but respect how remarkable this phone is for the price tag.

It looks great with its flat sides and dual-lens backplate design, and they gave Smart 9 a big LCD of 720p resolution on the front, stretched to 6.7.” It’s an IPS 120Hz panel, so it’s already better than the old 90Hz Smart 8, but can it handle that kind of refresh rate on its SoC?

There’s no subpar Unisoc chip here like the last generation, but they went with a Helio G81 (2.0GHz) SoC that is way more qualified for the Infinix new Smart model and its Android 14 Go, XOS 14 system. They even guaranteed 48-month fluency with it, but that’s only limited to the 4/128GB option.

They went with a 5000mAh cell for the Infinix Smart 9 with a backup of 10W charging, and we should warn you that the camera situation is bleak here: only a 13MP unit on the back and an 8 MP selfie shooter on the front. Still, they gave Smart 9 a side fingerprint reader and IP54 durability, all for the starter price of about $75 (~PKR 20,000).
