Infinix Zero Mini Tri-Fold Concept Unveiled — A Flip Phone That Folds Three-way

Tecno shared its 5.75mm Spark Slim concept through a press release, and Infinix outdid it immediately by sharing a concept of a Mini Tri Fold device that’s gaining much traction in the news media. Officially, this concept is called Zero Mini Tri-Fold. That name is a mouthful, we know, but it actually describes the device quite well.

This is nothing like Infinix Zero 40 or any other sibling from the Zero series, just an ordinary chocolate bar form factor if you look at it head-on. But, Infinix designed it to bend twice with two hinges in its chassis. Like the tri-fold from Huawei, which had its dual-hinge take on the existing book-type fold, the Zero Mini Tri-fold takes the clamshell foldable design to its next stage.

We hear that this vertical clamshell concept folds three times to essentially become the size of a wearable accessory. As you can see in some of the images Infinix shared with us, you can mount it on shoulder straps, or you can use it for navigation on your bike.

There are not many use cases for such a design, but it is an interesting proof of concept to envision where the future gadgets are heading. We could use it as a dash cam for the car, or even replace a Go-Pro with its size, and the camera staring outward. As you can see on the shoulder strap image, it’s essentially a Go-Pro in its folded state that also turns into a handset when you need it.

Normally, you wouldn't be able to use a clamshell fold with a single hand when unfolded. If you fold the Zero Mini once, this is usable single-handedly. Even more so if you fold it twice. Sadly, this concept is no competition for some already established Flip phones like the Z Flips or Oppo Find N Flips.

The Infinix Flip new model has two cameras on the back, and so do other Flip phones. They have an external screen on the back, so they technically serve the same purpose as this Zero Mini Tri-Fold concept. They even have better features like the rear camera selfie.

We’ll see this concept make a live cameo at MWC 2025, and hopefully learn what other use cases this design might have. Of course, the company’s R&D team might have its own ideas for what this handset can do and we are definitely pumped to see how it competes in the Flip phone arena.
