iPhone SE 4 Might be Cheaper Than Expected, Thanks to Apple’s In-house 5G Modem

Apple has been outsourcing the 5G modem production for their iPhones for as long as we can remember, but lately, we’ve been hearing rumors of their new in-house modem for the iPhone SE 4, and this move could change things for the better.

Japanese network carriers have revealed the pricing for the iPhone SE 4, and this time, the phone might be cheaper than you expect at under $500. All things considered; with the facelifted modern iPhone look for the SE 4, new chip, and better camera tech, the leaked price is pretty cheap.

This low cost might be due to Apple using its proprietary 5G modem this time and not paying Qualcomm massively for the licensing fees. That favors the customer and the company. Their cost of production goes down, and so does the price of the iPhone.

We also hear reports that using the Apple 5G modem for SE 4 is only an opening move, an early public test before it’s standardized across all iPhone's latest SE variants. It’s a far safer move to install the new experimental tech with an entry-level handset like the SE 4, instead of their flagships.

iPhone SE 4 will no longer have the retro look, used by the old SE 3. It has scored quite a facelift, with a flat-edge chassis, corner-to-corner screen, and a type-C port. Of course, this new phone will have the Apple A18 chip, and reports suggest it could use up to 8GB RAM. It may even compete with the iPhone 16 in some categories. A price under $500 is not too shabby for such a device.
