Xiaomi POCO M4 Pro 5G Clears Several Product Certifications, 33W Charging and Dimensity Chip

POCO M3 Pro 5G (from the line of ultra-budget phones) that debuted earlier this year is getting a sequel. POCO is soon coming out with the new POCO M4 Pro to round off their bi-annual release calendar. The release timeline has yet to present itself, but the M4 Pro is already clearing product certifications.

The Xiaomi POCO M4 Pro is also a 5G phone. Certification authorities all over the globe — the EEC, 3C, IMEI, and TENNA— have signed off on this POCO phone under the model number ‘21091116AG.’ Since these listings only concern the connectivity features, they don’t specify other relevant details.

We learn that the POCO M4 Pro 5G uses a MediaTek mobile platform, presumably an entry-level Dimensity series chip. Its predecessor, the M3 Pro, runs on the Dimensity 700 — the cheapest 5G chip that MediaTek makes. Also worth noting is the new charging setup. While the POCO M3 Pro 5G was powered over 18W, the M4 Pro caps out at 33W.

Expect the M4 Pro in the Xiaomi price list to borrow at least some specs from the POCO M3 Pro. We could be looking at a 90Hz 1080P display, 128GB of base flash storage, and a 5000 mAh battery. Even though Xiaomi sells these phones under the independent POCO brand, they still run the MIUI 12 skin on top of Android.

The camera system may remain as predictable (and underwhelming) as a budget 5G Android gets. The M3 Pro lacks an ultra-wide camera, settling for a wide 48MP lens and two low-res sensors to pad the count.
