Struggling with retail in the smartphone market, HMD Global continues to aid the Symbian mobile form factor by releasing a new phone every once in a while. As a follow-up to the Ultra-affordable Nokia 2760 Flip, the Hungarian Tech Giant globally unveiled an iterative keypad clamshell dubbed Nokia 2780 a few hours ago.
The newcomer flaunts a dual-screen setup. The inner TFT display spans 2.7-inch while the cover shrinks down to 1.77-inch. On top of flashing the caller ID, the rear panel of the Nokia 2780 Flip can illuminate time and notifications. Above the secondary screen, users will find a standard 5MP shooter with an LED flash.
Amid the hardware manifest, Nokia mounts the 2780's main board with Qualcomm 215 processor. It's a quad-core chip designed explicitly with a lightweight UI in mind. It clocks at a max of 1.3 GHz and retains an X5 LTE modem peaking the bandwidth at 150 Mbps.
A non-compelling 512MB storage accompanies the Nokia 2780's 4Gigs of RAM. Under its T9 keyboard, a 1450mAh battery juices the entire package. Adreno 308 GPU handles the visual performance on the phone's 240 x 320 pixels resolution screen.
On the software front, Nokia 2780 Flip runs KaiOS 3.1 out of the box and offers features such as hearing aid compatibility and real-time text messaging. Users can also browse the web and use Google Maps, Youtube, etc.
Additional support includes Wi-Fi, MP3, FM radio, GPS, and more. Although the phone has a classic Symbian design, it uses a USB TYPE-C port for recharging. The sales will begin on November 15th in the US at an expected price of 80$, and the phone ships in Red and Blue colorways.
