HMD Global is rebooting two retro Nokias soon, the Nokia 8000 4G and Nokia 6300 4G. NokiaPowerUser had already leaked the specifications for the upcoming duo, and today, the German publication WinFuture.de published the marketing poster for the Nokia 8000 while Let'sGoDigital shared the mockups of Nokia 6300. Let's take a look at both.
Nokia 8000 4G gets its name from the Nokia 8000 series that featured high-end, luxury phones with their iconic slide-out keyboards and gold or sapphire bodies. But the reboot, presumably inspired by the series, doesn't share anything with the 8000 Nokias except its name — no sliding keyboard or premium materials. The phone's design is your cookie-cutter generic feature model look, made out of glastic. It's chunky, glossy, but not eye-catching.
If you haven't been following the story, the phone runs on KaiOS, with support for Google Voice Assistant and 4G. The rest of the specs feel out of place in 2020 - - a 2.8" 240p screen, 2MP camera, and 4GB of internal storage. The removable battery is 1500 mAh.
Nokia 6300 4G, on the other hand, stays true to the original design while giving it a new modern spin. Its body is made out of metal, featuring a gray and black color palette. The display is 2.8" - - compared to its predecessor's tiny 2.0" screen, the 6300 can be a great entry-level addition to the Nokia price list.
On the back, there's a single camera with a metallic accent. The specs inside the phone are shared with the Nokia 8000 4G, so nothing of note there.
We expect both phones to make their debut at the rumored HMD Global event that's coming up. Other than these revived classics, the company will also be taking wraps off the Nokia long-anticipated flagship Nokia 9.3 PureView. Plus, the entry-level C1 Plus and the mid-range Nokia 7.3.
