HMD Global reportedly has a new budget 5G phone in the works. The upcoming Nokia G300 (a big jump in the new naming scheme) is a run-of-the-mill G series smartphone, running the same chip as the still-recent Nokia G50. In typical Nokia fashion, the G300 doesn't rock the most competitive specs on the market.
Courtesy of the publication NokiaPowerUser, we learn the detailed specifications for the phone. The engine inside the Nokia G300 5G is the Snapdragon 480 processor. It's powered by a 4470mAh battery, presumably without quick power delivery support. Nokia promises 14 hours of talk time out of a single charge.
The two product images attached with the NPU report showcase an all-too-familiar design. We're looking at a generic notched screen and a bulky chin (with Nokia's branding stamped on it.) Flip the phone over to find an unoriginal ring-shaped housing. Three lenses and an LED flash are embedded in this island.
For the specs, the screen is an underwhelming 6.5" TFT LCD. The lack of an IPS display makes for poor viewing angles and contrast ratio. Unsurprisingly, it caps out at a 720P resolution.
The Nokia G300 5G features a trifecta of 16MP wide, 5MP ultra-wide, and 2MP portrait lenses. An 8MP front camera lives inside the notch. Naturally, the G300 5G runs near-stock Android 11 out of the box. You get 64GB of internal storage, expandable up to a terabyte via a microSD card. At 9.1mm of depth and 210g of weight, the Nokia G300 5G is a heavyset phone.
