Nokia is soon expanding their mid-range G-series with a new 5G phone. The Nokia G50 has already been featured in retail store and certification listings. But the first official teaser for the upcoming phone comes in the shape of a social media post. Nokia France prematurely published a promo poster detailing the Nokia G50 on their Instagram page.
The post was either a mistake or a ploy designed to generate hype ahead of the launch because it was taken down shortly after. But not before blogs like the NokiaMob and NokiaPowerUser had already picked up on the Promo of the new Nokia G20 Sibling.
Nokia G50 is showcased in two color options — blue and beach sand. HMD Global’s design language hasn’t evolved in the past few generations, despite the new naming scheme. We’re looking at the same recycled elements — the donut-style camera island, the prominent notch in the screen, and the heavy chin with Nokia’s branding stamped on it. Welcome to the past three years.
The phone offers all-day battery life, 5G connectivity, and a triple-camera system featuring a 48MP lens at a mid-range Nokia mobile price. At least one of the other two cameras is presumably 2MP.
To review WhatMobile’s previous reports, the Nokia G50 has the Snapdragon 480 5G at its heart (a new budget 5G mobile platform from Qualcomm.) The hardware runs on the latest build of near-stock Android11 without a custom UI on top. It comes in 4GB+64GB and 4GB+128GB storage variants. The base edition starts from €239 (~ Rs. 46,000.)
HMD Global has yet to announce a release date, but the Nokia G50 should premiere alongside the Nokia-sponsored film ‘No Time To Die.’ The release is slated for September 28.
