At their recent launch event where OnePlus unveiled their latest OnePlus 9 flagship series, the budget-friendly OnePlus 9R also tagged along. OnePlus has reused most of the OnePlus 8T hardware from last year in a new build. Currently, the OnePlus 9R is limited to the Indian market, but it could be headed to other Asian countries soon.

OnePlus 9R has the Snapdragon 870 at its heart — an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 865+. You get 128GB/256GB of fast UFS 3.1 storage and 8GB/12GB of memory.

It’s all backed up by a 4500 mAh battery that fast charges with 65W Warp Charge technology. It can fully refuel the OnePlus 9R in only 39 minutes. To minimize heat from these breakneck charging speeds, the 9R also employs vapor chamber cooling. OxygenOS based on Android11 powers the phone.

The OnePlus 9R has a shell almost identical to the OnePlus 9 Pro, save for its flat screen. It’s a 6.55” fluid AMOLED screen that produces a full HD resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. A fingerprint scanner is embedded into the display of the Oneplus new model

OnePlus 9R comes in Lake Blue and Carbon Black shades. It lacks a 3.5mm audio jack but includes NFC support and dual stereo speakers.

Unlike its more expensive siblings, the OnePlus 9R cameras weren’t co-engineered with Hasselblad. We’re looking at this quad-camera array: a 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor with OIS assistance, a 16MP 123° ultra-wide lens, a 5MP macro lens, and a 2MP monochrome sensor. The 9R starts from INR 40,000 (Rs. 86,000) and goes up to INR 44,000 (Rs. 94,800) for the top-end variant.
