There are rumors that Oppo A96's upcoming premium successor, the A98, will be exclusive to China. Reportedly, a rebranded version is underway that could debut as A98's global counterpart. The ever-reliable tipster Evan Blass leaked its name and real-life image in his recent tweet.
According to re, the Chinese manufacturer will call A98's global equivalent the OPPO A1 Pro 5G. In a recent TENAA certification, A98 revealed its face plus back, and the design trail closely resembles the hands-on image tweeted by Blass.
With two circular discs housing individual sensors, the A1 Pro features an extruded pill-shaped camera. There's a silver accent between the lenses, endowing it with a premium aesthetic. The module emerges from a glittered pattern followed by a gradient shifting back panel.

The image showcases a glazed silver color on A1, but the latest 5G OPPO mobile will be available in more options. Users will find a top-centered pin-hole selfie camera on the front with an AMOLED display falling over the edges. As a global counterpart, it should score hardware mostly similar to A98. Here's a little taste of what it plans to offer.
As A-series' first curved-display device, the new A98 will have a 120Hz display and FHD+ resolution. Following the trend set by Redmi's latest 12 series, A98 will try to surpass the highest PWM dimming record on a smartphone. The newcomer's display supposedly brings 2160Hz of PWM to reduce eye strain caused by low brightness.
The newcomer's 6.7-inch screen will possess an under-display fingerprint scanner for security. Under the hood, the phone will leverage a 5000mAh battery rated for 67W fast charging to energize the Snapdragon 778G SoC. By default, A98 will use an Android 13-based operating system. Allegedly, A1 Pro 5G stocks a 108MP primary and a 16MP selfie shooter. We'll add an update as soon as we discover the rest of its specs.
