OPPO A16's Key Specifications and New Press Renders Featured in a Credible Fresh Leak

Oppo A16 is the sequel to last year’s entry-level Oppo A15. The industry analyst Evan Blass first leaked the official press images for the A16 last month. And Mr. Blass has now followed up on the report with the internal specs ahead of the actual launch.

The upcoming phone doesn’t offer a leap in performance over the last generation but packs a bigger battery capacity. While the Oppo A15 and its MediaTek Helio P35, the Oppo A16 features the Helio G35, delivering comparable performance.

It’s all powered by a 5000 mAh battery (up from the 4230 mAh cell inside the Oppo A15.) The A16 still lacks any quick-charging support. However, Oppo is shipping it with up to 4GB of memory that maxed out at 3GB last year. The latest version of the ColorOS 11 runs on the phone, naturally.

The Oppo A16 veers away from the distinctive look of the A15 in favor of a generic-looking build. The display still has its notch, but the shell is chamfered along the edges. Plus, the camera island of the Oppo new model phone 2021 is a forgettable boxy plate with three lenses.

Oppo has also moved the fingerprint scanner; it’s now integrated into the power button for convenient access. The A16 is finished in a sunburst design, available in black, blue, white, and bronze color options.

Other relevant details are scarce right now, but if the A16 is meant to be competitive, we should be looking at a clear 1080P screen and a high-res main camera. Oppo A16 could be rebranded as Oppo A37 (2021) in some markets. In either case, it’s speculated to debut later this month.
