Oppo A5 Pro 4G is the third iteration of the same model we saw for the first time in December. It was initially launched in China with a Dimensity 7300 chip and 5G connectivity. The same phone was later unveiled in the global markets, but it had a Dimensity 6300 onboard, which is a class below the original D7300 SoC. Now, Oppo unveiled an A5 Pro 4G with a Snapdragon 6s Gen 1, making this phone the least powerful of all three.
The A5 Pro 4G was rolled out in the Malaysian market yesterday, classified as an affordable mid-ranger. Still, it has all the qualities of the original and expensive 5G model, at least in terms of durability. The phone brings an IP69 rating, so it will survive full water submersion.
Oppo says that the phone has been put through the wringer with 14 Military-grade rugged tests, so it will survive accidental drops without significant damage. Durability aside, if we talk about its display specs, the handset uses a 1000 nits bright LCD panel at a 6.67” size.
The display on the latest 4G Oppo mobile has a peak 720p HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate, which is about what you can expect a Snapdragon 6s Gen 1 to handle. This is a low-power 11nm engine with modern technologies like the LPDDR4X RAM or UFS 2.1 storage. The NotebookCheck calls this chip a rebranded Snapdragon 662 with 8 cores and 2.1GHz CS.
The Oppo A5 Pro 4G uses 8 GB RAM to handle tasks and background apps. There’s 256GB of fast UFS storage for quick access to files and responsive app opening times. All the hardware on this device uses a large 5800mAh battery for power, which you can recharge via a 45W adapter.
Oppo only used a 50 MP dual-lens setup on the back and an 8 MP selfie cam on the front. The secondary camera on the rear side is a 2 MP monochrome shooter for depth assistance. At least the software is up-to-date with the latest Android 15 and Color OS 15 UI available at the first startup. There’s also a side fingerprint reader for security.
The Oppo A5 Pro 4G is priced at RM 899 in Malaysia, or around $200 (~PKR 56,000), which seems to be a decent cost for an 8/256 GB memory trim. The handset gives buyers two color choices in either Mocha Brown and Olive Green finishes. We now wait for the device to launch in other global markets. Stick around, if you don’t want to miss any updates.
