Oppo A53 came out in August this year, featuring entry-level specifications and a souped-up 90Hz screen. And it’ll soon be joined by a 5G variant. Oppo A53 5G is now listed on the China Telecom database, along with its specs, pricing, and launch timeline.

OPPO A53 5G bears the model number PECM30/PECT30. TENNA has certified it. Geekbench benchmarked the same phone. And China Telecom published its product mockups. Based on the details already made public, the Oppo A53 5G has a faster chipset and a different design.

The standard A53 has Snapdragon 460 at its core, backed up by a 5000 mAh battery. But the 5G variant uses MediaTek Dimensity 720 with a smaller 4000 mAh cell. Dimensity 720 belongs to MediaTek’s budget 5G line of processors. Unlike other Oppo phones, Its 5G modem is a resource hog, so a trimmed down battery would make for weaker battery life. Oppo combines it with 128GB of base storage and two memory options, 4GB and 6GB.

The design, although different from the A53, is nothing new. You’re looking at a boxy camera plate and a hole-punch. Except the back is cleaner because the fingerprint reader has been merged with the side-facing power button. It’ll be available in purple, green, and black colors.

It’s unclear if Oppo is porting over the 90Hz feature, but Oppo A53 5G has a 6.53” full HD+ IPS screen. A 16MP primary camera replaces the 13MP one you see in Oppo A53. The additional two lenses, one for closeup images and one for software-generated bokeh, remain unchanged. It takes selfies with an 8MP front camera.

Although the latest stable Android11-based ColorOS 11 is out, the Oppo A53 5G boots to Android10 out of the box. The phone is launching in China on December 1. And it starts from 1,599 Yuan (~ Rs. 38,500) for the 4GB flavor and 1,799 Yuan (~ Rs. 43,000) for the 6GB edition.
