In a recent press release, Oppo unveiled the A54, their latest budget entry in the A-series and a successor to the Oppo A53 from last year. And the phone is now headed to Pakistan. Its early teasers are up on Oppo Pakistan’s social media, but no launch timeline has yet been shared.
In typical Oppo fashion, the entry-level A54 doesn’t have the most competitive chipset. The three-year-old MediaTek Helio P35 is at the heart of Oppo A54. It’s a 12nm processor running the previous-gen Android10-based ColorOS 7.2. You get 4GB of memory and 128GB of eMMC 5.1 storage, expandable via a microSD card.
The setup is powered by a 5000 mAh battery that can last roughly 20 hours of video streaming and 41 hours of music playback on a single charge. When you run out, the Oppo A54 intelligently quick-charges over 18W.
We find a thumbprint reader on the side and a 3.5mm headphone jack on the bottom. The A54’s shell comes in the iridescent Starry Blue and the muted Crystal Black editions. Three cameras are mounted on the back, featuring a 13MP primary sensor, a 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP bokeh-creating camera. Overall a value addition to the Oppo price list.
Out on the front, there’s a 16MP selfie camera embedded inside an O-hole cutout in the display. It’s a 6.51” IPS LCD that fills an 89.2% screen-to-body ratio, delivers a 720P resolution, and peaks at 480 nits of brightness.
Oppo A54 also has mild resistance against water and drops thanks to its IPX4 rating. WhatMobile puts its expected price around Rs. 19,999 to 23,999 PKR.
