Oppo A55s is the latest model of Oppo’s year-round cycle of budget releases. It was launched as a China-first edition. The phone’s specifications are predictably basic. But the chipset powering it is built on a high-efficiency wafer, In related news, Oppo F21 Pro dropped in Pakistan last week.

We’ll start the overview with the Dimensity 700 at the heart of Oppo A55s 5G. It’s a 7nm chip that peaks at 2.2GHz CPU clock speeds. A 5000 mAh battery, without fast charging support, backs up this MediaTek platform. You can pick from 4GB/8GB memory options. Both come with 128GB of expandable internal storage. The last-gen Android 11 x ColorOS runs on this hardware.

Next, we’re looking at the display, which lags considerably behind its competition. It’s a 6.5” IPS LCD with a mediocre 720P resolution and standard 60Hz refresh rate. The marketing materials don’t specify any kind of brightness or screen protection.

The chamfered plastic casing, the black rectangular camera cutout, and the single-tone gradient finish make up the design. You can pick the upcoming addition to the Oppo price list from bronze, blue, and black colors. Oppo A55s has four cameras in total (but only two are usable.)

The front camera has an 8MP sensor behind it. And the primary lens on the back features a 13MP resolution. A low-res 4cm macro shooter and a 2MP ‘depth’ lens round off this setup.

Note that the Oppo A55s 5G has a namesake launched in Japan last year. But it’s an entirely different phone, despite sharing the exact model name. The Chinese Oppo A55s 5G starts from CNY 1600 (~ Rs. 46,000.)
