Oppo unceremoniously launched two editions of the Oppo A74 in multiple Asian markets this week. The Oppo A74 5G and A74 4G use different chipsets and screens, but both fall into the budget range. Also, the A74 4G is simply a renamed Oppo F19.
There’s little to unpack if you’re already familiar with the F19 because the two phones are identical, down to the color options. The Oppo A74 4G features a 6.43” OLED screen with a 1080P resolution, a hole-punch cutout, and a touch sampling rate of up to 180Hz. This screen refreshes at a standard 60Hz and has an optical fingerprint scanner integrated into it.
A massive 5000 mAh battery, powered by 33W fast charging, backs up the Oppo A74 4G. It can last 10 hours of gameplay and 18 hours of video streaming on a single charge.
The chipset at the A74’s heart is the Snapdragon 662, paired with 6GB of memory and 128GB of internal storage. Plus, the latest ColorOS 11 runs on the new addition to the Oppo price list, straight out of the box.
Lastly, the A74 4G is rounded off by an entry-level camera setup. The three-camera array features a 48MP wide sensor, a 2MP macro sensor, and a 2MP portrait lens. Out on the front, you get a 16MP selfie camera.
The A74 5G has the same array, except for the extra 8MP ultra-wide camera. Its display also refreshes at a smoother 90Hz, but the 33W fast charging speeds were trimmed down to 18W for the 5G feature.
Qualcomm’s 8nm Snapdragon 480 powers the phone (the memory/storage, battery capacity, and design are shared between the LTE and 5G variants.) The 4G edition of the Oppo A74 starts from PHP 12,000 (~ Rs. 37,000) and the 5G version from BH 9,000 (~ Rs. 43,000.)
