The Oppo A92s, which has been leaked on the web multiple times over these past few weeks, has quietly gone official in China. It’s another welcome addition to Oppo’s lineup of affordable 5G smartphones. If you’ve been following the story, the design and specifications might not come as a surprise, but the phone’s starting Oppo price of CNY 2199 (~50,000 PKR) might.
We get a design language that’s reflected on both the rear and front cameras of Oppo A92s. The front-facing cameras are encased in a pill-style cutout that rests in the top-left corner of the display.
Around the back of A92s, inside a squircle camera island, we find a quad-camera system. Two of the lenses live inside a diagonal pill-shaped housing (in addition to the primary camera bump), while the other two occupy the remaining two corners.
The bezels of Oppo A92s are trimmed to the very edges, as is the chin, which helps create an ‘all-screen’ experience. Though it’s uncharacteristic for a device in this price bracket, the back panel is polycarbonate, so is the frame. It’s not chamfered, but the roundings are soft, and the shell itself sports glossy hues in ‘Ninety-degree black’ and ‘Whisper’ shades.
The front panel is a 6.57-inch LCD that delivers an FHD+ resolution and a remarkable 120Hz refresh rate. The selfie shooter combo features a 16MP main camera, paired with a 2MP sensor. While the quad-camera has a 48MP (main) + 8MP (ultra-wide) + 2MP (macro) + 2MP (depth) configuration. The aperture on the primary lens is f/1.7, which is bigger than most, so you can expect some excellent, crisp shots, even in low-light.
In the end, we’ll look at the performance it promises. For biometric verification, the phone has a thumbprint reader mounted on its side. MediaTek’s Dimensity 800 platform (with its 5G antenna) powers the Oppo A92s. At these steep Oppo prices, the company has opted for 6GB and 8GB memory options, combined with 128GB of internal storage – that can be expanded with a microSD card.
Its 4,000 mAh battery can be powered up with 18W fast charging, and the entire ensemble runs on Oppo’s latest ColorOS 7 (that is essentially a tweaked Android 10 UI). The phone is now on Pre-orders in China and we can't say for sure as of yet if it will make it to Pakistan but in case it does, expect it to cost around or above 69,999 PKR.
