Oppo A94 Secures Certifications Around the Globe; The Budget-friendly Phone is Launching Soon

Faisal Rasool

Two weeks ago, Oppo A93 5G launched as Oppo’s first Snapdragon-480-powered phone. Its successor model, the Oppo A94, was already in the works. Shortly after the A93 5G release, the A94 cleared two certifications. And yesterday, two more authorities certified the device, bringing it a step closer to launch.

Thailand’s NBTC database lists the Oppo A94 under the model number “CPH2203”. Singapore’s IMDA has already cleared the same model. The China Quality Certification Center, or CQC, issued the A94 a certificate as well. It confirms that the device supports 30W fast charging.

Several reports from around the web speculate that the A94 has a second variant called “CPH2205”. Oppo often releases the same phone under multiple model numbers. But they differ only by a single digit, giving weight to this speculation.

CPH2205 has been signed off by the American FCC and benchmarked on Geekbench 5. Where other certificates mention the telecommunications details, these documents reveal the key system specifications. The A-series is quite popular in Pakistan with handsets such as Oppo A53 and A52 but we don't have an official word just yet if the new device will make its way to Pakistan.

Although its name would suggest otherwise, the Oppo A94 isn’t an upgrade over the A93 5G. It runs on the MediaTek Helio P95 chip that came out earlier last year, based on the previously-mentioned benchmark. 6GB of memory keeps apps running in the background. And out of the box, the latest Android11-based ColorOS 11 powers it.

The FCC documents contain schematics. According to those, the Oppo A94 has a 6.2” screen, a side-facing fingerprint scanner, and a 48MP quad-camera array.
