Oppo A98 signs on to the SIRIM database, inching one step closer to launch. For those unaware, the brand plans to introduce A98 as a semi-flagship handset globally, as hinted by the multiple international certifications they’ve gathered for the device, including TENAA, NBTC, TDRA, and CQC.

SIRIM, Malaysia’s regulating entity, has indexed Oppo A98 in its database under model number CPH2529. Apart from the model number, the database didn’t reveal anything noteworthy. The device has previously identified itself with the same model number on multiple listings, and they gave away plenty of details about the newcomer.

For instance, the TENAA listing from earlier unveiled that Oppo A98 carries a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with an FHD+ resolution and a hidden fingerprint reader. One of the listings confirms the phone has a 4,690mAh battery rechargeable at a fast 67W input.

TENAA also gave away stats on the phone’s SoC. It packs eight-cores maxed a 2.2GHz paired with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB built-in storage. The rest of the latest Oppo flagship mobile's specifications remain a mystery, though the internet’s abuzz with some rumors about its cameras.

Enthusiasts believe the device has a 108MP primary shooter followed by a depth mapper at 2MP resolution. Some official renders confirm that they reside in a pill-shaped camera island. Powering the front camera is a 16MP sensor.

Oppo A97, the successor, debuted last summer in mid-2022, which leads to conclude that the phone’s launch is super close. Allegedly, the newcomer boasts mighty improvements over its precursor. Nothing is sure as of yet. We are still waiting for the official word from the company.
