Oppo Ace 2 5G Officially Announced, Oppo’s First Gaming Flagship For 2020

The long-awaited Oppo Ace 2 5G is now official. If our readers recall, WhatMobile reported that the Chinese brand is spinning off its ‘Reno Ace’ into a new ‘Ace’ series, and the Oppo Ace 2 5G is the first entry of this newly-minted flagship family with high-end Oppo Prices. It’s a performance-first phone, with a round camera profile (which now seems to be a 2020 design trend).

From the first look, the Oppo Ace 2 has a thick build, but it weighs only 185. Its 6.55-inch OLED panel has a 3D curvature, which combined with a 91.8% screen-to-body ratio, presents a design you’d expect from a modern 2020 flagship. A standard punch-hole sits in the top left of this FHD+ screen, which reaches a refresh rate of 90Hz and a peak brightness of 1100 nits.

Oddly enough, unlike most Oppo models, this Ace 2 isn’t camera-centric. That’s not to say you don’t get a decent camera, but it’s not remarkable either. The quad-camera arranged in the round housing features a 48MP + 8MP (ultrawide) + 2MP (portrait) + 2MP (monochromatic) combination. For selfies, Oppo picked a 16MP f/2.4 sensor.

The Oppo Ace2 performance is where things get interesting. A Snapdragon 865 chipset, featuring 12GB of next-gen RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.0 native storage, sits under the phone’s hood.  Oppo has optimized it for gaming, and thanks to the internals augmented with the 4D VC cooling system, the phone can maintain higher frame rates, with reasonable power consumption and temperature control.

Another feature worth mentioning is the Ace 2’s 4D Game Vibration 2.0, that delivers hepatic feedback customized as per the game you’re playing. Pair this with the dual speakers and the Dolby Atmos surround tech, and you’re looking at a fairly immersive gaming experience.

The Ace2 is powered by a 4,000 mAh battery with outstanding fast charging support. It features the world’s fastest 40W Super AirVOOC wireless charging, in addition to the lightning-fast 65W wired fast charging.

We can't say for sure if the new Ace series will make it to Pakistan but the phone is launched in China & the pre-orders will start from today. The customers can pick from Aurora Silver, Moon Rock Grey, and Fantasy Purple colors. The basic 8GB + 128GB variant carries an Oppo price tag of CNY 3,999 (95,000 PKR, without taxes).
