Oppo F27 5G Teased for a Global Launch; F27 Pro+ Slated for AI Update

In June, they unveiled the Oppo F27 Pro Plus alone and held back the vanilla F27 5G for a later debut. Supposedly, the Pro Plus was to pilot some of Oppo’s new AI features, but it never did at the time of unveiling. They confirm that an update is coming to this phone momentarily with the missing options. And that Oppo F27 5G prepares to join the lineup soon.

Like the F27 Pro Plus, the Indian market is where Oppo F27 5G will initially debut before reaching the other global regions. And the update bringing in some new AI features for the Pro+ is due on August 22nd. That’s about the gist of their recent announcement.

That OTA package for Oppo F27 Pro Plus has a feature called AI Eraser 2.0. It’s a neat little trick that uses generative AI to remove photo bombers and unwanted objects from the scene. AI Smart Image Matting 2.0 is another AI function that crops subjects from shots and turns them into stickers.

Of the four new features in the update, the most creative one would be AI Studio on Oppo's future 5G smartphone. It can turn drawings into realistic artwork. Then, we have AI LinkBoost working magic to better users’ voice calls and boost connectivity. Out of the box, these features will remain on standby via an update.

Oppo F27 5G hasn’t launched yet, so there’s little to nothing available on its specs. All we have is a design teased by Oppo. A circular bump on the rear side and three camera sensors lay on top. More details will pop up eventually once the phone nears its inevitable debut.
