Oppo Find N5 Latest Promo Showcases a Rugged Build & Water Resistance

There’s no denying that Oppo has been late with the Find N5, but it was worth the hold-up as things stand right now. Oppo Find N5 has been cropping up in teasers a lot, and in a recent one, this phone demonstrated how durable it can be. Here’s an overview of the video.

Earlier teasers have been showing off the Find N5’s thickness, which measures about 4.2mm when unfolded. That’s an 8.4mm profile when slapped shut, thinner than a Galaxy S24 Ultra at an 8.6mm depth. This number is impressive, but doesn’t it affect the phone’s durability? Apparently, not!

This phone is anything but fragile, as claimed by GSMAarena, which published hands-on coverage for the Oppo Find N5 quite recently. In one of the tests, the Oppo Find N5 was strapped to a 20 Kg exercise weight, suspended freely from between two tables. It won’t bend other than the way it was intended to.

The video teaser builds up on the slimness factor, albeit in some curated clips, showing that the Oppo Find N5 will be the first foldable in the world rated at IPX9, IPX8, and IPX6 water safety. It can be submerged in water, as you see in the video here, and even survive hot water jets if you accidentally drop it in your dishwasher. Given its premium features, the Oppo price list will likely reflect its high-end positioning.

The promo video has some clips showing Find N5’s drop resistance. It may be the first foldable with a shockproof chassis. In some other shots, Oppo teased its strong hinge mechanism, the pictures of which were recently released by GSMArena when they were handed a Find N5 sample for testing.

In other leaked hands-on shots, we found that N5 has an alert slider on one side and the power key (fingerprint ID) + volume rocker on the other. Its retail box was also spotted in the same leak. The N5 has a circular camera on the back and almost the same screen size as before. A noticeable upgrade might be the barely visible crease in the latest N5 Fold.

We can confirm from the official Oppo landing page that Find N5 is headed for a debut on 20 February next week. It will be available in China initially, but for the global markets, the OnePlus Open 2 will be its rebranded form in multiple markets. Prices and availability remain a mystery.
