OPPO's Find X5 Series launched on schedule yesterday. The new lineup is now open for pre-orders worldwide, featuring the Oppo Find X5 and Find X5 Pro. Oppo has co-engineered the cameras with the optics brand Hasselblad for the first time. And MariSilicon X (Oppo's homegrown custom image processor) does all the number-crunching for those cameras.
Oppo Find X5
The Find X5 has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 at its heart, integrated with what Oppo calls their 'Imaging NPU.' The self-developed 6nm processor promises a breakthrough in videography. The Find X5 cameras can shoot in 4K Ultra Night, Ultra Dark, and Ultra HDR modes.
Hasselblad's imaging is advertised to produce accurate, natural colors and offers a host of panorama and creative styles.
The camera system is a cluster of 50MP OIS-powered primary, 50MP ultra-wide, and 13MP 2x telephoto lenses. Plus, a 32MP front camera rounds off the entire setup.
The front shooter is housed inside a minimal O-hole cutout in the display. Here, we're looking at a 6.55" 10-bit LTPS AMOLED that can dynamically adjust its 120Hz refresh rate. As you would expect from a flagship display, it's punchy, sharp, bright, and vivid. Plus, the O1 Ultra Vision feature can enhance the resolution of your videos in certain apps.
Oppo Phones prices for both handsets fall into the flagship category. A 4800 mAh battery powers the Snapdragon 888 inside the Oppo Find X5. Oppo offers 80W SuperVOOC and 30W AirVOOC charging support with this battery.
The next-gen tech gives you a full top-up in just 34 minutes. One can pick from the muted matte white and matte black options but we have to wait and see if the handset does land in the Pakistani market.
OPPO Find X5 Pro
The Pro model is the latest-and-greatest Oppo has to offer. It's crafted from ceramic, making for the premium, almost mirror-polished aesthetic. The cleaner lines are also better defined. But the design is identical to the standard Find X5. It's available in Ceramic White and Glaze Black.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 (the most powerful chip you will find in an Android) is the engine inside the Find X5 Pro. Oppo swapped out the default NPU with its Marisilicon processor here too. It's hooked up to a bigger 5000 mAh battery. But the wired and wireless charging support is shared between the two Find X5 editions.
The Find X5 Pro screen curves more aggressively around the edges. And the LTPO panel it features is more advanced since it can step the refresh rate all the way down to 10Hz. The QHD+ resolution is sharper, and the 1300 nits make it brighter too. But features like color depth, accuracy, and gamut are no different.
In a similar vein, the Pro camera specs and features are more or less identical to the setup on Find X5. But the Find X5 Pro uses more cutting-edge 5-axis image stabilization tech. It can stabilize both the image sensor and the lens for shake-free, clear photos and videos.
A 3D graphene array keeps the phone cool. And the latest ColorOS 12.1 x Android 12 runs on this hardware. The Find X5 lacks any official ingress protection rating despite its flagship-level price, but the Find X5 Pro is rated IP68 against dust and water.
Availability and Pricing
Oppo Find X5 comes in a single 8GB+256GB variant, starting from €1,000 (~ Rs. 197,200.) The Find X5 Pro has a 12GB+256GB configuration, priced at €1300 (~ Rs. 256,000.) However, please do note that the European prices are always on a higher side as compared to the Asian markets.
Although they've been announced, the two phones won't hit store shelves until mid-March. There's no word yet on when the series is landing in Pakistan.
