This year's Q2 will be full of surprises. Many brands are going on a spree to launch as many devices as possible in this quarter. In China, Oppo has even lined up a flagship Reno 12 series for release by the end of this month.
For context, the Reno 11 duo is still fresh in our memories, launched in November 2023, and rolled out to global markets by December. Six months in, we are already on the verge of receiving next-gen members into the Reno family. There are mock renders, specs, and rumored prices in the headlines. Here are our two cents on the Reno 12 series.
You should know the Reno 12 and Reno 11 series have much in common. Looks are similar, camera designs are identical, and screen topology is pretty much alike, but the thing with this year's lineup is massive SoC improvements.
Reno 12 will not be as barebone as the older iteration, loaded with Dimensity 8300 instead of Dimensity 7050. There's also a chance this time, we'll find a 2X 50MP telephoto in the camera array of the new flagship Oppo mobile.
We have a lot to uncover still. But today's leak unravels many curious details about the Reno 12 duo, like the essentials: 12GB RAM, an IR blaster, an in-screen fingerprint scanner, an IP65-rated chassis, and ColorOS 14 Android 14. They say Reno 12 will cost ~$500 (~PKR 138,000).
Reno 12 Pro, being the higher-ranking sibling and such, does a great job of creating disparity. With other identical specs, it has to justify its alleged ~$800 price (~PKR 222,000). So it must come with flagship Dimensity 9200+ and up to 16GB RAM.
