Oppo Reno 12 Global Series Officially Slated for Launch; Event Due in Malaysia on 18th June

Oppo’s Reno 12 series is almost upon us. They teased it, confirmed its launch date, and the whole nine yards. There’s an event happening on 18th June in Malaysia for its global announcement. That’s official. But there was also a leak saying it would launch in Europe on the same day.

This news is exciting and all. But don’t mistake the Reno 12 and Reno 12 Pro for fresh devices. They already launched both of these in China. And there’s a good chance those global variants are the same thing. So what’s behind the scenes Oppo has been working on? We must tell you the answer to that question.

Oppo Reno 12

Subtle changes and minimal disparity: that’s how you can define the series. Reno 12 has a 6.7” AMOLED FHD+ 120Hz. Almost 1200nits brightness makes it suitable for use under the sun. And then you’ll see a dual-edge curve screen with it. That screen alone makes it a deluxe product, in our opinion.

Color OS 14 plays the role of the firmware here. We hear Reno 12 Global is harboring a Dimensity 7300-energy chip. It’s a shame we couldn’t get the Dimensity 8250 CPU plugged into the Chinese Reno 12. At least they saved a 12 GB RAM config for it. That’s to be official with 256 GB storage.

And then there were cameras. It’s got a 32 MP front camera from the get-go. Flip over, and you’ll see a 50 MP Sony LYT-600 OIS headliner. 8 MP ultrawide, and 2 MP assistive lenses back it up. ‘Tap into AI’ is their tagline for the lineup. We believe they tuned in its photography around AI features.

Oppo Reno 12 Pro

Well, the duo’s displays and designs mimic each other closely. Where 6.7” AMOLED FHD+ 120Hz refresh is the same, those curving angles have a subtle disparity. Reno 12 Pro curves from the sides, top, and bottom, so you may find it even more pleasing to look at.

Pro or not, both the models we talk about harbor Dimensity 7300 Energy chips. That means performance is almost the same. Reno 12 Pro will bump the storage up to 512 GB. But that’s mostly it. Their big-time change ends at storage because the RAM caps at the same old 12 GB.

Three cameras for Reno 12 Pro as well. One of those is a 2X 50 MP telephoto. Then there’s a 50 MP default shooter called Sony LYT-600 OIS. You’ll be able to snap 50 MP selfies with it. If you look at the camera specs alone, that Pro title seems fitting, don’t you think? We’ll know what their prices are when they debut.
