The sequel to the Oppo’s Reno 7 series has been reportedly in the pipeline for some time. The rumor mill has leaked a few unofficial details and even a Reno 8 image (which an Oppo executive said is fake.) And a trusted source followed up on the original leak with detailed specifications.

Digital Chat Station, a source based in China, published the OPPO Reno 8 specs. The upcoming phone is the first to rock the unreleased Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chip. This platform is a mystery, but you can expect more robust performance than previous mid-range generations.

Performance seems to be the big highlight here. Oppo has paired the chipset with flagship-grade LPDDR5 memory and ultra-fast UFS 3.1 storage. Also, the 4500 mAh battery inside the Oppo Reno 8 is powered over hyper-fast 80W charging support. This hardware setup is a significant upgrade over the Reno 7 series.

The screen of Oppo's new Reno model is a 6.55” AMOLED that peaks at 1080P resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. The reno 8 has a fingerprint reader and a 32MP front camera embedded in the display. Turn the phone over to find a triple-lens cluster. It features 50MP Sony IMX766, 8MP ultra-wide, and 2MP macro shooters.

The Reno 8 line is supposedly debuting either in May or June. We’ll learn more in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for updates.
