In roughly a year, Oppo has launched no less than three new generations of the Reno series. The gap between subsequent releases continues to shrink as the Chinese phone-maker gears up to unveil the sixth generation of this mid-range lineup. New Oppo Reno6 leaks surfaced this week, giving us a sneak peek at what Oppo has in store for us.
The renowned phone leaker Digital Chat Station reports on the Chinese microblogging website Weibo that the Oppo Reno 5 Successor, the Reno6 5G will run on the Dimensity 1200. 1200 is the top-end flagship chip from Mediatek, based on a 6nm process. Naturally, the blazing-fast 65W charging support is once again inherited. The battery capacity has mildly increased to 4500 mAh.
Furthermore, we’re looking at yet another hole-punched screen. It’s a 6.55” AMOLED panel that delivers a full HD resolution at a smooth 90Hz refresh rate. All in all, the screen gains are minimal. Similarly, the Oppo Reno6 5G camera uses a 64MP sensor, not to mention three extra lenses, presumably meant for ultra-wide, portrait, and macro photography.
While the earliest Reno phones had the most ambitious, novel designs and an affordable Oppo mobile price tag, the latest generations have plateaued through their recycled, basic builds. But their chipsets have been improving to the point where the Reno6 series now offers flagship processors across the board.
The Oppo Reno6 Pro, also according to Weibo, is built on the same specs as the Reno6 except for its chipset. That means the same 6.55” screen, 64MP quad-camera, and 65W charging support but powered by Snapdragon 870. There’s an even more expensive ‘Pro+’ variant that features Snapdragon 888.
