Xiaomi Poco C3 Passes Through a Bluetooth Certification; Maybe a Rebranded Redmi Phone

Faisal Rasool

Poco has yet to introduce a device of its own ever since it budded off its parent company, Xiaomi. Over the last few months, Poco has been reintroducing Xiaomi’s flagships (and mid-rangers) as rebranded Poco smartphones, and building on that trend, the newest Poco C3 is already in the works.

Poco C3 was recently signed off the by the Bluetooth Launch Studio, under the model number ‘M2006C3MI’. Note that it’s the same model number as the Redmi 9A, 9, and 9C (‘M2006C3MII’), save for the last alphabet — suggesting the Poco C3 is simply either a renamed Redmi 9, 9A or 9C. The title Poco C3 appears next to a few other Xiaomi Redmi phones, including a new unreleased phone called ‘Redmi 9AT’.

Based on the model number alone, Poco has had the C3 in development since last month, and because it’s a re-release, we already know what to expect. To recount, the Redmi 9 which is already available in Pakistan has a trendy Xiaomi-flavored symmetric design.

It features an accented silhouette on its plastic back and a vertical camera array centered inside it. Four lenses, arranged in two different pill-shaped housings, make up its quad-camera.

The screen measures 6.53” corner-to-corner, delivering a full HD+ resolution at a standard 60Hz refresh rate. The bezels have a modern, narrow profile, and the top bezel stretches into a drop-style notch to house its 8MP front camera. It’s layered in Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and reaches a screen-to-body ratio of 89.83%.

MediaTek’s Helio G80 processor, 3GB/4GB of memory, and 32GB/64GB of storage complete its mid-range internals, powered by a 5,020 mAh battery that supports 18W Quick Charge 3.0. While the camera array features a 13MP + 8MP + 5MP + 2MP combination. The Redmi 9 is available in Carbon Grey, Sunset Purple, and Ocean Green, so we might see the Poco C3 inherit the same palette. WhatMobile expects it to start from Rs. 27,500.
