The long-rumored Realme 8i made its official debut in Europe yesterday. It’s a more budget-friendly addition to the Realme 8 series. Plus, early birds get a discount under an offer that lasts until October 20. We’ll take a quick look at what the Realme 8i offers.
Realme 8i borrows the design language from the rest of the Realme 8 series. The phone has a glassy shell featuring an abstract finish available in the gorgeous Space Black and Space Purple options.
Three lenses and an LED flash are arranged neatly inside a raised camera platform. Realme 8i’s camera matrix uses a 50MP f/1.8 wide lens, a B&W camera, and a 4cm macro lens. You can shoot in Night, Ultra Steady, and Portrait modes. Etched into the frame, we find a side-facing thumbprint reader doubling as the power button.
Turn the phone over to reveal a flat-screen with a hole punched through its corner. The cutout on the latest addition to the Realme price list houses a 16MP front camera. The all-new 8i peaks at a Full HD resolution and 600 nits of brightness. The 6.6” panel samples for touches at 180Hz and refreshes at 6-different frame rate presets — 30Hz, 48Hz, 50Hz, 60Hz, 90Hz, and 120Hz.
The MediaTek Helio G96 crunches all the numbers inside the Realme 8i. You get 64GB/128GB UFS 2.1 storage and 4GB/6GB of memory. It’s virtually extended by 5GB for sustained multitasking performance. Everything is powered by a 5000 mAh battery and 18W quick charging.
Realme UI 2.0, based on Android 11, runs on the Realme 8i. It’s also slated to get an early build of the Realme UI 3 when it comes out next year. Realme 8i starts at a higher side in Europe at €199, WhatMobile expects it to cost around Rs. 28,000 to 33,000 PKR upon its arrival to Asian markets.
