Sometimes, Realme turns the stuff of dreams into reality, be it fast charging or flagships on budget. We were all taken aback by their latest creation — a previously unimaginable SuperSonic Charge solution of up to 320W that can fill handsets in under 5 minutes. Yes, their long-rumored and awaited fast-charging tech has now gone official.
While previously, everyone thought that the charging solution would be 300W, it turned out to be 320W, shattering almost every record ever for a fast-charging phone. Of course, we are talking about Xiaomi’s lazy attempt at a 300W tech that never retailed.
Enough reminiscing, though. Now that Realme has taken the wraps off this new facility. We can assess the potential it could have for future phones. Their aptly named SuperSonic Charge tech can fill a standard phone battery from 0-100% in four and a half minutes.
It’s hard to wrap your head around these insane numbers. And all of that, coming from Realme no less. Their innovative genius puts Apple and Samsung to shame, and how they keep holding onto ancient 45W and 20W charging standards, forcing you to tie your phones to the wall for hours on end when the world has moved on from those ages ago.
This new tech can bump your phone battery from 0-26 percent in a minute. For a 50 percent charge, you need only count to 120 seconds. Wait four and a half minutes, and phoof, it’s 100 percent. Amazing stuff through and through, but there’s a catch still. You won’t see this tech in any retail phones anytime soon.
Achieving numbers like 320W comes with some caveats, like overheating. They did mention a ‘folded battery’ invention that helped with this tech’s creation. It turns out scientists make use of such tech in satellites, sticking multiple battery packs into a smaller shell. Still, Realme says they might need time to perfect this tech before commercializing it. And from the response they’ve been getting, people don’t seem to mind the wait.
