Realme GT 6T is Missing the Mark as a Flagship Contender; Here are the Reasons

Realme GT 6T quite recently went official. 'GT' in its label screams its main focus is gaming and bleeding edge specs. But it might disenchant you just as quickly as the moniker excites you. Most GT phones before it were flagships and packed Snapdragon 8 series chips. Realme Gt 6T is more of a premium mid-ranger if you go by the specs. And not the flagship that moniker claims it to be.

Internals might be to blame here. Realme GT 6T has a Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chip inside. It makes the phone formidable, sure. But even brands like Poco have Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 to flaunt in this category. In these times, GT 6T feels limping behind in the race of the horses.

They put a strong emphasis on fast storage speeds with UFS 4.0 tech. That's true, but not all the way. The starter variant of the GT 6T does an 8/128 GB combo. Out of all three options, this one has a UFS 3.1 storage. 256 GB and 512 GB models have UFS 4.0.

We see no rhyme or reason for this disparity. Even Poco F6 has UFS 4.0 storage. And that starts at 8/256GB storage for a lower price. Also, the Realme new GT model does a great job at not being the Pro if cameras are the topic. The last non-Pro phone from the GT series had three rear shooters. There are only two this time: a 50 MP alpha and an 8 MP wide secondary.

It's not a sophisticated design you see with the Realme GT 6T. The lens assortment on a polished chrome surface tends to leave stubborn dust particles mid-section. That upper half of the phone will suffer intense fingerprint and grease marks if you are not careful with it. We also hear that GT 6T is coming to Pakistan. We'll see soon how it fairs in our market.
