Realme GT 7 Pro Reported with Heat Issues & Benchmark Manipulation Ahead of Launch

The Internet’s exploding right now with the news about Realme GT 7 Pro scorching with heat due to the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC inside it. Yes! The very same chip Qualcomm debuted a few days ago and Realme wants to show with their GT 7 Pro (unveiling November 4th in China).

Of course, Realme handed out this phone to reviewers and creators beforehand with embargos, so they could test it and create their material accordingly. But everyone’s in disbelief; Digital Trends and Android Authority reported some problems while they tested it.

Snapdragon 8 Elite, in itself, puts out an unbelievable amount of power as two of its main Oryon cores clock at 4.32GHz, and the other six do 3.53GHz. That’s a 45% uptick compared to SD 8 Gen 3 on paper, but such cock speeds on a 3nm SoC will produce a lot of heat — something that Realme GT 7 Pro probably underestimated.

GPU stress tests are Realme latest GT phone’s kryptonite, it seems. Both publications witnessed crashes and the phone couldn’t finish 3D Mark Wild Life or Solar Bay tests. GPU benchmarks even caused it to show heat warnings, and shutdowns, and sometimes, the phone limited itself to only phone calls for safety.

There’s another disturbing thing they found. GT 7 Pro was unable to finish any GPU tests before, but when they disguised 3DMark as a non-benchmarking app, it all worked fine and gave results. This phone got exposed for built-in targeted optimizations for benchmarks specifically. Snapdragon 8 Elite pushes itself beyond its limits and causes heating plus shutdowns.

This SoC has a problem with synthetic benchmarks on Realme GT 7 Pro, but it all works as expected in real-world usage. There were no signs of heating or crashes in games or usual tasks. Updates might fix this issue in the days ahead, but GT 7 Pro’s future is uncertain at this point.
